I didn't start in software. I started in design — selling, sourcing, and sitting across the table from clients, watching firsthand what actually eats a designer's week. It wasn't the design work. It was everything wrapped around it.
Talented designers — people with real taste, real instincts, the kind of eye you can't teach — spending their Tuesday afternoons manually checking vendor stock across five different sites. Staying up late re-explaining the same project update to a client because the last update lived in a text thread that got buried. Watching scope quietly creep past budget because nobody had time to check procurement totals against the original quote until the invoice was already due.
None of that is design work. All of it was stealing time and energy from design work — and I noticed something specific: it was almost never a talent problem or even a time-management problem in the way people assumed. The designers I watched struggle most were often the most visually gifted people in the room. Their brains were built for spatial thinking, pattern, and color — and that same wiring made the linear, repetitive admin side of the business feel almost physically draining, no matter how many planners or productivity systems they tried.
I'd watch firm owners hit a ceiling — not because they ran out of talent or clients, but because they ran out of the kind of attention admin work demands, and nobody had built them a system that worked with how their brain actually operates instead of against it.
I'm not interested in AI that tries to design your client's living room. That's not the gap. The gap is everything underneath the design decision — the sourcing, the follow-up, the scope tracking, the content that goes quiet for two weeks because there wasn't bandwidth left to write it.
That's specifically what AI is good at. Not taste. Repetition — the exact category of task that a visually-driven, pattern-seeking brain tends to resist hardest.
So I built HiveLogic to sit exactly there — AI agents that handle the operational weight of running a design firm, built by someone who's actually sat in the client chair and felt the deadline pressure, not by a software team that's never set foot in a showroom.
HiveLogic has two ways in: Honeycomb, a custom-designed build where we design and hand off a complete AI system for your firm — sourcing, scope tracking, client portal, content pipeline, all of it. And the Bee, a community for firm owners who want the tools, the education, and a room full of people figuring this out together, without needing a custom build.
Both exist for the same reason. I watched too many talented people burn out running the business side of a business they started because they loved the design side — and quietly blame themselves for struggling with admin that was never built for how their brain works in the first place. AI isn't going to replace the reason you got into this. But it can absolutely replace the reasons you're exhausted by Thursday.
That's the whole bet HiveLogic is built on.
Book a 30-minute Honeycomb call and we'll walk through where AI can quietly take work off your plate — no jargon, no pressure.
